Global Impact Celebration

Global Impact Celebration (GIC)

In todays busy and constantly changing world, we never quite know where God is leading us each day.  But we, as strong believers in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, know that we have much to be thankful for and that He will provide for our needs.  Not only does He provide for us, but gives us enough to help others—both near and far

This year in Missions, we have continued to support many of our long-time Mission giving, but have also embraced new and growing opportunities.

This past year we have fostered new a relationship with UMCOR West (United Methodist Committee on Relief)—sending a group of volunteers to spend a week working at the warehouse sewing and also preparing kits for distribution to areas where disasters have taken

Our second new outreach has been a relationship with Re-Build: Up From the Ashes.  This outreach is very close to home—only miles away in the Okanogan area where we are helping families rebuild the many homes lost in fires.

We are reorganizing our involvement with Highlands Middle School and remain active in many more of our long-time Mission outreaches such as Grace Clinic, Ignite Youth Mentoring, Operation Christmas Child, Angel Tree, World Relief and our Missionaries, Paul and Fabiola Drumm.  Please see more information about each of these Missions and more further on in our booklet.

It is good to reflect on how this congregation’s generous support of Missions has transformed us as individuals and as a congregation.

May we be even more encouraged to share God’s love in the coming year.

Each spring the members of West Highlands are asked to recommit ourselves to Serve Others, both in the community and around the world. This begins during a Global Impact Celebration (GIC) weekend where we hold special events to deepen our understanding of the biblical basis for mission and challenge ourselves to become more involved. During the GIC weekend, mission projects are identified for the congregation to participate in.  Examples include a free car wash for the community and tying fleece blankets to be distributed through Project Warm-Up.  Typically, a guest speaker is invited to present during church service.
